People are liberal without being political

I love the grey jacket

  • Damn I missed a couple days, so trying to remember what I did on Jan 9th (currently Jan 11th).
  • Had the orientation in the morning, which was nice, and I was feeling very productive in the morning as well. I’ll attach a couple pictures of the orientation afterwards.
  • Afterwards, went to the Library Bar which had decent food (got Mac and Cheese), and spent a couple hours there. Pretty much put together my schedule for next week, including which events I want to go to for the Give it a Go week.
  • Then went to the library with Mulan, got her ID card, then went to the personal tutor meeting which was pretty nice. We met two new people, one guy from Wash U and one from Brown, and I’ll see if I can keep in touch with them.
  • Then had the interview with Manjot Mahal for Lockheed, and I think I did much better at conveying the parts of my personality that I wanted to get through than I did with my Amazon interview.
  • Afterwards, chilled in the place that I did the interview (Bayes centre, this hub for robotics/AI stuff, it looked more flashy from the outside than a lot of the places in Berkeley, it had this robot from NASA that apparently was the only one that exists outside the US, but seemed like it had less concrete material than the labs at Berkeley).
  • Went shopping for Mulan’s stuff and I ended up walking around a lot — went to Primark, got some stuff there but I couldn’t find the right size for the duvet, so ended up going to TKMaxx where I couldn’t find stuff either so ended up going to House of Frasers where I did find it, but Mulan didn’t want it, so I ended up just sitting in House of Frasers for a while because I didn’t really know what to do and I was very tired and my back hurt for some reason (my backpack seemed very heavy even though I don’t think I put that much stuff in it??). @mulan
    • Eventually was able to motivate myself to get up and ended up walking all the way to Beaverbank. Something I realized is the importance of being careful while walking across street that don’t have the pedestrian walking sign — cars don’t seem to stop for you, so especially when you have headphones on (which incidentally was another thing that made me seemed to make me more tired for some reason).
    • But yeah when I got there I was sooo tired. Went to Mulan’s place, chilled in the bathroom there for a while, then ended up walking to Lidl and getting some chips, a duvet for Mulan that was cheaper than the single that she originally had, my waterproof shoes (not sure how useful they’ll be but they were £17 so I thought it might be worth), and a couple other things.
  • Eventually came back to Mulan’s place and she was very apologetic like she always is. I think her Atlassian interview went really well — I think she seems to have made that connection that you feel when interviews go really well. We’ll see how it goes. She also said that she would help me practice the behavioral questions that she got with my own study topics. I think the problem with me is that I’m not really good at coming up with good examples to answer a lot of the questions that they ask, so that’s something that I’ll have to prepare for.
  • She got this Chinese food for me that I didn’t end up eating. She said that she would pay for it, and for now I haven’t paid for it. I don’t think it’ll become an issue but we’ll see.
  • I was extremely tired, and went to bed pretty early I think.
