I woke up pretty early, but I missed my class, because I forgot to set an alarm. I went through the slides right after, and did some research into some supplementary articles about ourworldindata.org, Moldova, Abkhazia, and the specific courses of the rivers Dnieper and Volga, as well as European geography in general. It was a pretty productive experience. Afterwards, I got ready for class, went to the computer security class, which was kind of boring and it was interesting how the demographics seemed pretty asian. Afterwards I did some stuff (don’t really remember what), and then went to Pleasance for the boating exercise. I was late so it was slightly awkward but overall it was fun! I got some good exercise in and it was pretty good cardio. There was a relay race type thing at the end, which was fun. There were three other girls in my group (British girls), and it was interesting to talk to them and to get to know them a little bit. Then I chilled for an hour (watched the squash courts, which seemed super fun) then I went to the table tennis thing! It took me a while to find them though, which gave me the realization that even if I think I’m early, I still have to allocate more time if I’m in an unfamiliar place and there’s more chances of things going wrong or me not realizing where I am. It was super crowded; I played for a bit with a Singaporean guy who was friends with Jath, but he kept playing pretty weirdly (he kept hitting the ball out when he was serving) and it wasn’t the most fun in general. I went early to the pub quiz after, talked with Harini for a bit, then we (me Mulan Quetza Harini) did the pub quiz! It wasn’t with Abe this time, as she brought three of her friends and our group was way too big to play as one team. It was still pretty fun, although we placed 15th / 22 teams. I think the crowd was much harder this time, and in general, in order to do well I think I’m going to have to practice a lot more of these. I think in order for me to start going to them, I just need to put it on my calendar. After the pub quiz, I had an argument ish with @mulan because she got annoyed that I kind of jumped at Harini when she just randomly guessed the answer to a question when there were negative points and there was a very low chance that she was correct. I completely understood her point, but from what she was conveying, it also seemed that she was annoyed at my competitiveness during these kinds of games in general, which I was not cool with because it seemed like she was getting annoyed at things that were pretty significant parts of my personality. Eventually it was totally fine, Mulan helped me practice for my Accenture interview, which went really well. I had a great conversation with the Managing Director of the Systems and Platforms team, Teresa Tung, and she brought up a range of projects that I could possibly work on, including the first one which relates to building a knowledge graph of different systems that clients are working on, and using that to check for security flaws/procedures that the clients should check on, and already incorporate them as part of the application. The second project related to optimizing software related to different types of hardware, and the third one was something related to biology, and clinical trials (using data from one trial on others and figuring out what the best way was to do that).
