Was in York the whole day again. Had to wake up early because as it turned out, the check out time was 10am, not 11am as they said on the Airbnb page. After I got ready, I planned it out so I first went to York Castle Museum, which was huge and had a lot of parts to it, including a lot of rooms detailing what things were like for different types of people in the 17th/18th/19th century, as well as this huge fake street that they had made with a lot of shops that evoked the vibe of those times (I think 1700s)? Then they had the mill, which was kind of underwhelming, the prison yard, and this exhibition of the ’60s which was very cool, I read a good amount about the Beatles after that and also some other things about the ’60s like the machines that were being developed to make things easier (I remember there was like a microwave and stuff?) and Cold War / space race stuff. Finally, there was the section on York Prison which was interesting (there was one really creepy section where they turned the lights off and had people’s screams playing as they couldn’t breathe or something). Afterwards, went to the Clifford’s tower, which was a bit scary but cool. Then went to the Spark area, which was actually really neat with the graffiti and the architecture, and especially the system that they had to help homeless people (using contactless to give £3, I don’t know why other people haven’t thought of that yet.) I got this vegan doner (German street food), and it was incredibly good (a bit spicy in parts, but somehow I was still able to finish it). So good. Then I went over to Jorvik Viking Centre, which had such a long line (about 40 minutes), but I listened to the Audiobook in line so it was mostly pretty fine. The actual place was cool - I was really impressed with the ride-like mechanism and how it was an interactive look at what Viking ilife was like. At the gift shop, I hung around for a while and eventually got a box for @mulan and a Viking game for myself, looking forward to playing it. Then went to the York Dungeon, which was absolutely incredible - it was hilarious, very interactive, fantastic acting, and the jump scares were fun too. I had a fantastic time. Just listing some of the scenes, there was the executioner guy, the weird witches one, the judge, the lady in the beginning whole kept calling us filthy Saxons, the plague nurse, the Viking lady with the screen on which the Viking guy who kept saying “for Odin” was projected, the inn place where the ghost came out and the guy was talking bout a battle in the War of the Roses, the guy where people killed his wife (I think during the English Civil War, but he kept talking about Her Majesty’s men, maybe the Glorious Revolution?), and more. I’m sad I lost the memorabilia thing that I got, this thing that had different layers of this red fluid that went zig zag across the layers once you turned it over. Anyway, afterwards, I went to see the Shambles and took some pictures, chilled in a Primark while some Vodafone guy called me to try to sell his 12 month plan, and went to a Gin shop where I tried some gin and tonic, which was pretty good. Went over to the train station and chilled until I got to my train, and this girl was sitting in my seat, I felt kinda weird kicking her out, maybe people don’t really do that here. She sat next to me but eventually left and sat on a different seat. I read exhalation short stories, including one about these online pet things that grew very complex i and involved, and eventually to keep them funded, they were sold as sex slaves in a sense. It was funny, the way she was talking about them at the end, it was basically like parents. I got back home, got the pizza, and had a dumb argument with mulan where she said that she had to sleep, but I said I needed to shower and was super insistent about it. I was 100% in the wrong and will try to eliminate that from my vocabulary and thought process (see Realization of Feb 2020).
