London
Interesting day, that didn’t end up how we planned it at all. Woke up pretty late, and took us a long time to get ready (there was this weird thing where @mulan was in the bathroom for pretty much one whole half hour, from 10-10:30 and even though i was like I’ll be fast, I was in the shower/bathroom from 10:30-11 pretty much. We thought that we could alternate it, one of us showers and the other person gets ready, and that might be more efficient than both of us showering together, but in hindsight, I think the first approach would probably have been better. Finally got out of the place, all packed up, ready to explore the Shoreditch area. We first went to the Columbia flower market, and checked out a lot of small shops along the way, including this shop that had these beret’s that I was trying on, but really didn’t work for me. Then we went to the actual market, which was very interesting. The most interesting thing for me was the haggling-like phrases that the flower sellers were saying in order to attract attention to their particular set of flowers, which made me think a bit about the universality of the things that we think might be particular to a specific culture. We checked out some other shops as well, including a perfume shop that I really enjoyed, and that made me realize that I might need to think more about applying deodorant and stuff regularly if I want to be the type of person who uses a perfume. It started to rain super super hard, and it was a cool bonding moment between us. Then went to the brick lane area where we went to this bakery, where I got a cool danish thing and @mulan got a cheesecake. Then, we weren’t going to get pizza again but there was this super good pizza deal for a 12 inch pizza for 5 pounds, and I was really craving it so I had to take the deal. After that, we roamed around the shops of Brick lane for a while, there was this one place where I saw some clothes that I kind of liked, and we spent some time there, and @mulan was going to get this red-orange shirt that was made of silk and cashmere, but she didn’t end up getting it. Then we went to this independent bookstore place, where there were a lot of books about feminism and stuff, and we got some books from there. Basically long story short, we made our way to King’s Cross, and on the train there we had some sort of suspicion that there might be something wrong with our train, because I was trying to find the departure time for our train on the liner website and I couldn’t find it. Once we got there, it was confirmed — because of the storm, our train was cancelled, and me and @mulan got into a bit of an argument because of that but we were able to resolve it, it was just stupid pettiness that wasn’t that big of a deal anyways. Afterwards, we made our way back over to the Airbnb, and we watched stranger things for two episodes. Afterwards we went to bed.
