Getting Referrals

Just say: “Hey, it’s been a while! I saw you are working at company x, how do you like it?” Then follow up with “That sounds great! I’m actually searching for a job right now and I’ve been interested in company x. Any chance you’d be willing to give me a referral?”

Is it awkward? Sure. Does it work? Absolutely.
